Rehabilitation of Dark View Falls and Owia Salt Pond Recreation Sites

In response to the 2021 La Soufriere Volcanic eruption, the NPRBA is currently rehabilitating two critical National Parks on Mainland St. Vincent, Dark View Falls Recreation Park and Owia Salt Pond Recreation Park to their pre-volcanic eruption levels. The NPRBA aims to provide a quality visitor experience in line with safety, security, enjoyment and conservation awareness. The main objectives of the project are to:

To rehabilitate and restore the Dark View Falls Recreation Park and Owia Salt Pond Recreation Park to provide quality nature-based recreation and tourism services to patrons
To strengthen the resilience of sites against the effects of volcanic eruptions and other natural disasters through the installation of water storage tanks.
To restore and improve the natural attributes of the sites, such as flora and aquatic ecosystems, through tree pruning, Ornamental planting, re-turfing and stabilization of pools.
