The Hub Collective Inc.(THC) is an inclusive arts education nonprofit organisation on the Caribbean island of Bequia in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG). Since October 2021, THC team has been focusing on the intergenerational archiving and re-activation project “Bush Medicine Revival” (The project aimed to safeguard traditional bush medicines, elder stories and ecological knowledge across all of Bequia’s communities).
The VOD, a dynamic organisation, aims to enhance its capacity to support the differently-abled community. This project will support the VOD’s efforts in addressing challenges faced by differently-abled individuals in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, particularly in rural areas. The Degro trail, near Rose Hall village, is currently impassable due to overgrowth and lack of maintenance. Erosion and poor drainage have degraded the trail, leading to farmers abandoning their lands. The once wide path has narrowed, obstructed by protruding vegetation. Beneficiaries of the project include tour guides, trail workers, farmers, students, shopkeepers, vendors, and caterers.
The Sandwatch Bequia, initiated at Bequia Community High School, is a local branch of the global Sandwatch Foundation. Originating in the early 1990s, their mission is to empower communities through their youths in sustainable living, environmental conservation, protection and activism through scientific methods, problem-solving and critical thinking an providing valuable information for development and mitigating changes that may affect our future.
