Project Summary

The VOD, a dynamic organisation, aims to enhance its capacity to support the differently-abled community. This project will support the VOD’s efforts in addressing challenges faced by differently-abled individuals in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, particularly in rural areas. These challenges include limited access to skills training and vocational development programs, leading to high unemployment and financial dependence. Existing training programs often lack inclusivity and fail to cater to the needs of differently-abled individuals, resulting in discrimination and marginalisation within the community.


Through this project, the VOD aims to enhance its capacity to support the differently-abled community. Their objectives include the following:

  • Providing skills training and learning activities for 20 differently-abled members, specifically targeting the blind and physically challenged.
  • Create job and entrepreneurial opportunities for 20 individuals by developing career skills.
  • Conduct advocacy, promotional activities, and awareness campaigns for persons with disabilities throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines, alongside increasing its membership by 30.

RESULTS TO BE ACHIEVED

  • The training programs are expected to yield a minimum of three potential instructors specialising in IT, craftsmanship, and seedling production among the participant cohort.
  • Enhance computer literacy skills for a group of 15 individuals with visual or physical impairments.
  • Enhance literacy levels for participants who are visually impaired or have physical disabilities.
  • Participants will evolve into independent entrepreneurs through collaborative efforts with VOD.
  • The organisation's name will be associated with its product line, thereby bolstering its reputation and credibility.
  • The establishment of short-term crop projects will generate income to meet the organisation's needs and support its members.
  • Foster stronger relationships among community stakeholders and organisation members who support project initiatives.
  • Achieve a 10% increase in the organisation's membership.
