The Sandwatch Bequia, initiated at Bequia Community High School, is a local branch of the global Sandwatch Foundation. Originating in the early 1990s, their mission is to empower communities through their youths in sustainable living, environmental conservation, protection and activism through scientific methods, problem-solving and critical thinking an providing valuable information for development and mitigating changes that may affect our future.
Borne out of a period of environmental devastation caused by the 2021 Volcanic eruption and the pressing issue of food insecurity in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, a group of volunteers founded what is now known as Eco Home Gardens Inc.
rehabilitating two critical National Parks on Mainland St. Vincent, Dark View Falls Recreation Park and Owia Salt Pond Recreation Park to their pre-volcanic eruption levels. The NPRBA aims to provide a quality visitor experience in line with safety, security, enjoyment and conservation awareness.
